TapToNote — App Terms & Conditions

TapToNote is provided by Serhii Onenko, an individual in Ukraine (“we”, “us”). Contact: support@taptonote.app. The full App Store name is “TapToNote: Speak & Keep for AI”.

How these terms fit with the App Store licence

If you obtained TapToNote through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs your licence to use the app unless a different licence is shown for it in the App Store. These App Terms describe product-specific use and choices; they are not a custom App Store licence. If they conflict with the applicable App Store licence, that licence controls. Nothing here limits rights that applicable law gives you.

By switching on I agree to Terms & Conditions and selecting Agree and continue in the app, you agree to these App Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What the app does

TapToNote lets you create, edit, re-dictate, view, delete and export text entries on your iPhone. Dictation uses the included Whisper model on your iPhone, even offline, and requires microphone permission. It has no server-based transcription fallback. Local use needs no account. You can opt into a cloud account and automatic cloud sync; after you subscribe to TapToNote Plus, this sends your text log to our server while TapToNote is open and online. The cloud connection provides read, add, edit and delete tools to supported AI assistants. Changes reach the iPhone after synchronization.

You authorize the storage and processing necessary to provide the cloud features you enable; you retain ownership of your entries. It is not end-to-end encrypted. Signing out does not delete server data or an AI provider's copies. Cloud availability requires internet access and depends on hosting and authentication providers. See the Privacy Policy for recipients, storage, deletion and current limitations. Do not rely on the cloud copy as your only backup.

Speech transcription is automated and can be incomplete or wrong. Check entries before relying on them. TapToNote is a general-purpose capture tool, not a service for urgent communications or professional advice.

Your entries and recordings

We do not claim ownership of your entries. You decide what to enter and when to export or share them. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required to record another person and for using and sharing entries lawfully. Please respect other people's privacy.

The app stores entry text and timestamps locally. It creates temporary audio while dictating, then attempts to remove it after transcription; it does not keep an audio library. With the optional Apple Watch app, the audio is recorded on the watch and sent temporarily to your iPhone for transcription, and is deleted the same way. Depending on your device backup settings, app data may be included in an iCloud or computer backup. ChatGPT, Codex, Claude or another AI provider may process entry text you choose to submit through its tools under that provider’s terms. If you choose to export or share data, the destination and its terms and privacy practices govern that copy. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Account deletion

You can initiate permanent account deletion in Account → Delete… by choosing Delete account and all entries (Delete account, entries and cloud data with Plus). After confirmation, it removes the cloud account and this iPhone's entries, streams and vocabulary, and blocks access to our cloud copy. Provider failures are retried and shown as pending; completion is confirmed in the app. Server backups expire within seven days; minimal hashed deletion records remain to prevent restoration and confirm completion. Other devices, exports, AI copies and device backups require separate management. Signing out alone is not deletion. See the Privacy Policy for processing, consent withdrawal and retention.

Free use and TapToNote Plus

Local capture, editing and file export are free. TapToNote Plus provides automatic sync, authorized access for ChatGPT, Codex, Claude or another MCP-compatible assistant, and the server snapshots described in the Privacy Policy. Audio is not uploaded. When cloud storage is full, uploads increasing usage are rejected without deleting local entries. Delete or shorten cloud entries to free space. Plus does not include an AI-provider subscription or independent disaster recovery.

Monthly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions provide the same Plus features. The yearly plan includes a 14-day free trial for eligible new subscribers; unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the yearly price is charged. Review the localized price and billing period shown by the App Store before confirming. Apple handles payment through your Apple account. Renewal is automatic unless cancelled through Apple's subscription settings before renewal. Cancellation generally leaves access until the paid period ends, subject to Apple's refund/revocation decisions and applicable law. Use Manage subscription or Apple's subscription settings to manage or cancel; request eligible refunds through Apple. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

A purchase is bound to the signed-in TapToNote account. Restore with the purchasing Apple account and the same TapToNote account; restoration does not transfer it to another TapToNote account. Subscribing to Plus, after the consent text on the purchase screen, starts copying your entries to our server; signing out stops it. Expiry stops sync and AI access; local use, export and account deletion remain available; to receive a copy of your cloud data, email support. After 365 days without an active subscription, measured from its verified coverage end, a scheduled operation rechecks inactivity and removes the cloud journal. Provider outages may postpone removal. Server snapshots expire within seven further days. Phone entries remain intact.

Deleting your TapToNote account or signing out does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel separately with Apple to stop future charges.

Children

TapToNote is not directed to children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country, up to 16). We do not knowingly collect data from them; if you believe a child has given us data, write to support@taptonote.app and we will delete it.

Availability and changes

Some features depend on iOS, device capabilities, available storage, permissions and local model preparation. The included model increases the app installation size; initial preparation can take longer than later launches. We may update the app and these App Terms. The effective date identifies the current text. Before a change takes effect, we will provide notice or request renewed acceptance where applicable law requires it.

Nothing in these App Terms removes statutory consumer rights or changes the allocation of responsibility in Apple's Standard EULA. For support or questions about these terms, email support@taptonote.app.
